May(k) room for one more

May was a productive month of revival, consolidation and transformation across our farms.

We welcomed little Jimbo to the family, a lovely natured Border Collie pup. As a bundle of joy, he’s been our main focus this month and already it’s been incredible observing his growing confidence each day. From working lines I have aspirations to learn the art of training muster dogs so that he can be a valuable asset in the day to day livestock operations and a loyal companion too. Thank you to the Greendale team for breeding and raising a wonderful pup who I look forward to seeing the training journey we’ll embark on together.

Across the month we received 73mm of beautiful rain at Mudgee and 90mm at Coolah spread across three separate events, a season changing late Autumn break. With the mild temperatures this rain has brought on a lovely, lush green pick across our paddocks, a welcome change from the parched, brown state they were before. This well timed rain has set us up nicely for Winter, giving us some much needed breathing room.

Other items of business included giving our ewes their pre-lambing drench, transitioning the cows onto a loose lick to aid rumen function during these dry conditions, burning off a few piles of timber, weed management and other tidy up jobs.
